About this Artwork
This print was created in response to the 2024 earthquake in the Noto Peninsula in Japan. The artwork is a hopeful tribute to resilience. Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, an artform renowned in the Kanazawa region. It symbolises the idea that scars can become part of an object’s beauty and history. Cherry blossom is symbolic of renewal and new beginnings, while the seigaiha wave pattern traditionally represents peace and strength through turbulent times. It was then exhibited and sold in London in 2025, where portions of the proceeds were donated to the earthquake recovery fund.
